About Tyler

Acting is about curiosity and courage, imagination and confidence. The skills of courage and imagination are investments of time and pratice, but they are worth far more than their applicability to acting, and they are crucial for that. I am a USC School of Dramatic Arts Alumnus and I had the immense privelidge of studying with some incredibly courageous and tactical actors and directors during my time there. I have been out in the LA and national acting communities for about three years, and am a proud member of the Actors' Equity Association - the theatre actors union. If we work together, we will cover stagecraft essentials, monologue/audition treatment, and also attempt to deepen your own understanding of your individual artistry - your voice and path. I look forward to engaging with your artistry and hopefully equipping you with tools for your imagination and confidence. Artists thrive in the pursuit of courage, skill, and imagination. These three pillars will be the foundation of everything we learn together.

It seems so big and small at the same time. It's an intimate art form, and also so legendary and communal and international. The theatre is a wild and beautiful creature, and encountering it behooves you to humble yourself and not to rage, but rather to nurture understanding. It tests your patience, but ultimately grants you its gift, that of a powerful spirit.

About the lesson

A student is an individual so there is a need to understand where the student is in her/his goals - creating a program based around those specific growth areas.

Acting is also an art form - so like a school system, a student will not be considered "graduated" without walking away with a standard artistic education.

This will be a mix: part individual-specific programming and another part standard education.

A new student is fresh to me just like myself, a new teacher, will be fresh to her/him. We have a common interest to understand one another, but only for the sake of the art form, not for a non-professional situation.

Classical Training is essential - look for teachers who have extensive experience with the classics. Once you have an understanding of these, the modern stuff will seem like cake.
