About Matthew

Hey! I'm Matthew, I'm an undergraduate at UNT pursuing a Biology major and a Chemistry minor.

I have a decent amount of student-on-student tutoring experience, and I'm starting to tutor K-12. I also have teaching experience in the classroom with middle/elementary schoolers in the UTeach program at the University of Texas at Dallas.

I have a natural inclination for the sciences, but I am also capable of teaching other subjects like english classes, social studies classes, and math classes:

-I have taken most AP classes in high school and am familiar with the material (AP Human Geography, AP World History, AP US History, AP Government, AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP English and Comp, AP Literature) as well as other various non-AP classes

-I have taken up to Calculus 2 and College Biology/Chemistry classes of different sorts

-I have hefty experience in writing and english and have received a few awards in high school for such

I really enjoy helping people learn and seeing the light in their eyes when they pick up on something new. It's nice for me to be able to help people out in that way

My parents were both teachers when I was a kid, and they told me to never become a teacher. Naturally, this sparked a desire in me to become a teacher.

All kidding aside, I thoroughly enjoy helping people understand things and I strive to do the best I can to help others get the knowledge that they need.

About the lesson

First we'll diagnose the subject material together and see what we have to do. Secondly, I will ask a few guideline questions to figure out the best way for you to learn. From here, I will prepare material and questions for you and work with you little by little to make sure you understand it.

It's been about a 50/50 mix of middle schoolers (for my teaching classes in college) and other college students.

Don't hire someone based on what they know, hire them on how well they can teach you what *you* need to know. Some of the smartest people in the world are the most socially awkward - make sure they can get the material through to you.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what you have done, and what you're willing to do. You probably shouldn't walk into a tutoring session without a willingness to learn.

I can be flexible but I am usually around the $15-25 an hour area. If the tutoring is non-intensive, I can fit your needs however you need, please don't hesitate to ask me about pricing differences.
