About Deno

Former professional billiard player, writer, and historian. Also skilled archer. I offer personalized instruction for beginners through competitive professionals. I played billiards professionally for ten years and competed domestically and abroad. I only competed in archery locally and now teach. If you have gear I am happy to come to your location for a lesson. Otherwise we can make arrangements to meet somewhere else.

I am very patient and focus on the basics, good form, and safety (yes you can hurt yourself at billiards) in both sports. We can work to set goals, and methods to measure your progress.

I enjoy helping and watching people achieve their goals.

I started teaching by request from enthusiasts who observed me shooting (billiards and archery).

I was trained by two of the better athletes in the sport, and take an analytical approach to the sport, the form, and accomplishing goals.

About the lesson

I like to learn a little about the student to better understand what s/he wants to accomplish. Once I understand the intent of the lessons, we start by focusing on safety and understanding the equipment. Next I focus on learning good form from the beginning so that students don't have to re-learn something as they get better. Each lesson is relaxed, positive, and fun.

I work with men and women, kids ten years old and up, people with disabilities. Small groups of people is also possible.

The most important thing is to work with someone who makes you feel comfortable, knows good form in the sport, and gives you positive reinforcement. Also learning should be fun and relaxed at the beginning and intermediate levels, and more challenging at the higher levels of the sport.

I was recently elected to office in my municipality. It's not quite sport related, though there was some local sparring! :)

Details

I charge $75 per lesson, for up to two people. If I have to travel more than ten miles the price is $85. Lessons are about an hour, but sometimes longer if your time permits. I'm more worried about teaching the information than punching a clock.
