About Marvin

Welcome, I am known by my students as, “The Teacher” from the NBA down to adolescents. I am blessed that I don’t have to teach my opinion; I have done over 30 years of research and practice on my systems and methodology. I have 10 years of NCAA DI Coaching, NBA and WNBA Coaching and development, and a plethora of adolescents, teens, and younger adult training.

I personally created the first ever Shot Lab for professional players to have a place to train, and fail during their training without being criticized by the public. Since that creation we have cross pollinated our methodology across sports, "there's a shot in every sport", so we hire and train professionals in every sport to transition amateur skill set to pro skill sets.

The first thing we do is an Assessment to figure out the "whys". Next there is a Ten (10)-Session Package that includes a Journal and the Pro Training Package. I have a private half-court location near downtown Orlando where I do most of my one-on-ones (5130 Cranes Point Court) and a full gym where I do smaller groups (3800 Oakridge Rd). Players don’t come to me for drills and sweat but rather to ask questions and get answers.

However, after the first five hours of the package is done we decide if the next package is needed. Usually, you will need at least two ten-hour packages, but to be honest, most players start, go to college, the pros, and I am still their Teacher. Today I am training seven players from 14 -18 years-old that had parents that trained with me when they were in the NCAA/WNBA/NBA, it’s reciprocal.

Shooting is simplist skill in the game of basketball. It's so simply that we find ways to complicate it, mostly through whats called, "Buzz-words." Shooting is the number-one skill in the game, but most shooters can't make a free-throw, when the free-throw is the number-one shot in the game... Find a teacher that has done research on their subject! Academically, an opinion is an "Elementary mindset", research is factual, and concequently, a "Pro mindset".

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What's the difference between an amateur and a pro? The beggist advantage of teaching the pro mindset is that it forces "critical-thinking" which leads to emotional entelligence, and moral reasoning. Therefore, by teaching the pro skilsets, we didn't choose our students path. In the past four decades 70% of our students are across the occupational-spectrum, 20% played high school and college basketball, but 10% played FIBA, WNBA, and NBA.
