About Courtney

At Rapha Ministries LLC, our services are offered with integrity and the passion to serve the community in the field of Biology. With over 2 years experience, working with CMS students, we pride ourselves on the ability to deliver excellent service that impacts the youth and prepares them for a career in the sciences.

At Rapha Ministries LLC, we enjoy the creativity of preparing lessons that are fun and engaging to students but that encourages them to explore various aspects of Biology.

I always loved teaching. However, the passion for teaching grew as I mentored at risk youth. It was a privilege and honor to serve them and teach them social/ emotional skills and assist them with their homework each day. This has inspired me to pursue a Master's in Teaching in the near future to impact our youth and encourage them to develop a love for science and learning.

I have over 2 years experience teaching K-5 eat risk youth social and emotional skills through the Wings program, an Americorps partner. Moreover, I have a Bachelors of Art in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte that has provided me with extensive study in Biological Sciences.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a student is first, finding out what they know and what they are interested in learning. Then, I am able to tailor tutoring sessions based on that feedback. I like to understand the students learning style to make sure that we incorporate that style into each lesson; therefore, I will provide a learning styles asessment or questionnaire prior to the first day of tutoring.

I have worked with K-5 students in a CMS school. More specifically, while working for Wings for Kids, I had the opportunity to mentor fourth grade students.

I would advise any student looking to hire a teacher in my area of expertise to choose a teacher who is trustworthy, fun, has great communications skills, and is engaging.

A recent event that I am fond of is being able to create social and emotional lessons for my Wings Kids during a Story Time using Flip Grid to discuss various books that highlighted the core social emotional skills that we taught such as self management, self awareness, and responsible decision making, just to name a few.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think students should think about what they know, what they learned, and what they still have questions about. They should jot down at least three burning questions that they would like more clarity on to present to their teacher.
