About Fia
What makes me most excited about teaching is being given the opportunity to share my passion for science and biology with other students. It is so satisfying to finally understand a particular process that has been giving me a headache - and I hope to help guide you through them too!
I graduated from NIST International School in Bangkok, Thailand with an International Baccalaureate diploma. I took Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology as my higher-level courses. Currently, I am a senior attending Erasmus University College majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology in the Netherlands. I plan on obtaining my master's degree and down the line, my Ph.D. I have extensive knowledge in subjects relating to Biology and the Life Sciences, such as embryology, molecular genetics, and evolutionary biology.
My philosophy for learning is that by asking questions, we can better retain and understand information. I greatly value self-directed and discussion-based learning.
As part of my high school education, I taught special needs students at a vocational school. Additionally, I traveled to South Africa to teach and tutor students in high school. This summer, I have been awarded a paid internship at the Block Island Maritime Institute as the maritime and marine educator intern.
