About Kayla
Hi, I'm Kayla! I'm here to help with science, but first, here's a little about myself:
In 2012, I graduated high school top of my class with a full scholarship to any university I chose. While in college, I was vice president of the Environmental Club and spent a great deal of time in biochemistry-geared classwork and labwork. I also did two independent research opportunities. One dealt with the medicinal properties of common plants while the other was an environmental assay of the Lackawanna River to monitor for climate change. In 2018 I received my Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Since graduation, I've been working in the environmental science field dealing with lake restoration and watershed management. I also spent a great deal of time addressing the issue of an invasive species of insect known to the northeastern united states, hemlock wolly adelgid. These jobs alowed me to gain plenty of hands-on experience in water laboratory science as well as entomology. I became my company's expert in Blue Green Algae and attended a conference in 2019 to share my research findings with world-renowned sceintist and students alike. I live for science and I love sharing my passion and knowledge with students who are either interested in the fields of science or who are simply strugging with the basics. I spent my college years waitressing, so I have a great personality and thanks to my many nieces and nephews, I'm also great with kids!
I volunteered to help some friends' children with their online cirriculum during the early stages of the covid pandemic.
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Minor in Chemistry, and two years working in the environmental science field.

I like to get students to look at their problems from a new perspective. Often, students are only taught one way to solve a problem, when thinking outside of the box could easily help to guarantee success.

When did you begin getting lost in the material? If you are lost on something in the beginning, that's a necessary tool that you will need later in the school year. You must be familiar with the basics if you plan to excel in the more difficult material.
