About Haritaa

Hi! My name is Haritaa, and I have just graduated from Brookwood High School in Gwinnett County. I was in the top 10 of my almost 900 student class and have taken 14 AP classes over the course of high school, including many of the sciences (Physics 1 and C, Chemistry, Biology), Spanish, Literature, and Calculus BC. I will be attending the Georgia Institute of Technology in the fall for biomedical engineering.

I have been tutoring privately for nearly four years in a variety of subjects, including sciences, ACT/SAT prep, Spanish, and math up to Calculus BC. For the past 8 months, I have also worked as an instructor at Mathnasium, so I have experience working with students of all ages and am comfortable with all sorts of math material. In addition, I have strong standardized testing skills: I received the National Merit Finalist award this year for a PSAT score of 1550 out of 1560, a 1550 out of 1600 on the SAT, and a perfect score of 36 on the ACT.

Besides all the qualifications that I can list on a resume, I love getting to know and connect with students and see them improve in their efforts. Some of the kids I've taught love to learn and approach their sessions with an excited attitude. Other kids hate that they have to work for another hour after school. But I've developed different methods of teaching to best fit their unique styles of learning, from Socratic questioning to repetitive practice. I know that it just takes one breakthrough for them to realize the power to improve is in their own hands. My job is just to guide them and encourage them to keep going when it feels impossible.

I have worked as a private tutor for nearly 4 years in a variety of subjects, including science (chemistry, physics, biology), Spanish, math (geometry, algebra, precalculus, calculus), history, and ACT/SAT prep. I have also spent the last 8 months working as an instructor at Mathnasium.

About the lesson

It depends on the subject and the needs of the student. In preparation for a big assessment, we would focus on the topics at hand by quickly reviewing the concepts before diving into practice with the material. For additional enrichment, we would spend the first session laying down a framework of what basics the student has mastered and what needs a more solid foundation. This allows me to focus only on what needs to be improved before we can tackle harder, more complex topics.

I've worked with students of all ages, from elementary school (some couldn't even read yet!) to seniors in high school.

Find a teacher you are comfortable with and one that's willing to adjust to your needs, not the other way around. Every student has a unique way of learning; in the same way, every teacher has a unique way of teaching. Although we should be able to adjust to how you best learn, it's crucial to find someone you can be open and honest with.
