About David

I'm patient and great at explaining things with simple examples.
I have more than 10 years experience as a Support Engineer with SQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server. I'm also very familiar with MySQL, Postgres, SQLite, and Access.
I have several years of experience with Python programming (sorry, no Data Science libraries such as Pandas, Matplotlib, etc). My favorite development environments are PyCharm, PyDev, and Thonny, and I'm familiar with Jupyter Notebooks.
I love helping people. I love seeing my students get it, and how happy that makes them. I love explaining things to people.

I ask students what topics they need help with, and I initially schedule just one session, to make sure we're a good match.
At the end of the 1st session, I give an assessment of what's giving them trouble (e.g. lack of experience programming, weak spots, not starting simple, etc.).
People who have never programmed before. Masters and Ph.D. students. Working professionals who need to improve their skills.
If you don't feel good about a tutor, or if you're not satisfied with your rate of learning, try a few other tutors.

What kind of help do they need? What specifically are you struggling with? The more specific you can be, the better. Also, ask for help with a few homework problems, so your tutor can see examples of what they're having trouble with.
