About Charlotte

I am a born Chinese and I was raised there for 14 years. Having Chinese(mandarin) as my first language, I can understand the language itself and the culture behind it; and I'll be more than willing to help others either get started or get better at Chinese. I also have a part-time, non-profit job at a local organization that helps abc(America born Chinese) kids learn their family language. Back in the time when I first moved in a new neighborhood, I met my neighbor, who is the headmistress of a Chinese-teaching organization. She started to talk with me and after she found out about my exprience and level in Chinese, she asked me to join her at her organization as a TA. This is how I first got started on my side career as a Chinese tutor.

I was raised in China. I received Chinese education for 14 years and I lived in an all-chinese enviroment.

About the lesson

I usually ask the student about their level in Chinese, and start my lesson based on the student's level. With a student that just got started on Chinese, I would start with the most common used and simple Chinese character, words and phrases, then move on to more advanced level. One of the ways I teach students, especially younger students and beginners, is to learn a character through drawing and analysing; therefore help the students to fully understand it. If you have a preference in ways to learn, tell me and I'll help you in the way that works the best for you.

一般情况下，我会询问学生在中文上的水平，再根据学生的水平制定课程。对于刚开始学习中文的学生，我会从最常用与最简单的字，词与词组开始，慢慢升级到更有挑战性的。尤其为年龄较小的学生与初学者所喜欢的一种教学方法是通过画画与分析去帮助学生完全理解一个字。如果您在学习方法这方面有偏好请告知我，我会用最能帮助您的方法进行教学。

I have worked with young student at the age of 5-10, beginners, teens and young adult who have been learning Chinese for more than two years at the age of 14-20. And I'm sure I can do just as well with other types of students.

我的学生包括五到十岁的小孩，初学者，还有已经学习中文两年以上的十四到二十岁的青少年及刚成年的学生。我也非常有信心能帮助其他类型的学生。

I usually charge 45 dollars for one hour online and 55 dollars if I teach outside my house , but it is flexible.
