First, I believe every person has their own unique way of learning new material. I always come to know each student and their particular learning style as well as their goals for learning a topic before I ever begin teaching. This ensures the greatest potential for long-lasting growth for a student.
Second, I bring to the table real world programming experience. I’ve been in very high-pressure situations with tight deadlines and high expectations for quality code, therefore, I know what it takes to bring these programming concepts into a tangible product used by many people. I make sure to weave my professional experience into everything I teach in order to prepare a student for the realities of life after school.
Third, Although my expertise is in programming/software development, I also teach my students how to learn more efficiently. Over the years I have learned and developed a number of very powerful tools to facilitate the learning process by decreasing the time it takes to learn new material and increasing one’s ability to remember new material. I teach these tools and practices to every student I work with.
It is my dream to help as many people as I can to become the best version of themselves. Since I was young I’ve had a tendency to guide and teach others in topics that I had success in. It brings me immense joy to see the people who I have helped living their lives more fully as a result of something I taught them.
I have a B.S. in Computer Science and 2 years of industry experience as a Software Developer/Consultant.
I have 1 year of formal tutoring/mentoring.
