About Amanda

I've been teaching plant-based cooking classes for at least 15 years and I'm president of Vegetarians of Washington, a non-profit that runs the annual food festival, Vegfest, at the Seattle Center. I offer monthly plant-based cooking classes at East Shore Unitarian church near Factoria in Bellevue, on the 1st or 2nd Wedesday evening of each month, 7pm-9pm. The cost is just $5 to cover ingredients. See (concealed information) for upcoming classes and to register.

I love to show people how to use plant-based foods to prepare healthy meals and to reduce their dependence on animal products. I am passionate about the health benefits of a whole food plant-based (vegan) diet, and like to explain to people how this diet can help them with many chronic health conditions, while also reducing the suffering of animals and helping save the environment.

I've been giving plant-based cooking classes for over 15 years. I completed the eCornell Plant-Based Nutrition course and was trained as a certified Food for Life Instructor by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Personally I've been following a largely plant-based diet for over 25 years. I've been cooking for my family for that whole time, and have learnt a few tips and tricks over the years.
