About Kendra

My greatest passions are track and field, weightlifting, and helping athletes improve their skills. I have been throwing (shot put, discus, hammer, and weight) for 10 years now. As a four-year letter winner and regional qualifier for the NCAA Division 1 Boise State Track and Field team, I am the kind of coach you want to have. In high school, I was the 2016 Idaho Discus State Champion and in college was a highly-ranked hammer and weight thrower. This last spring I was awarded the Mountain West Women's Scholar Athlete of the Year and was ranked #1 in the conference for the weight throw. I just retired in May so my skills are fresh; I am very knowledgable about throwing and drills; and will create a relaxed/fun environment to get better and stronger.

When my collegiate athletics career ended suddently (injury and covid), I missed being around track and field so much. I was reached out to from a few high school athletes, so I coached over the summer... and LOVED IT. During my 10 years in track and field, I have so much information building up in my brain and hope to find athletes to share it with.

I have been involved in track and field for 10 years now. In high school I was a shot put and discus thrower, then transitioned primarily to throwing hammer/weight in college. During my time in college I studied engineering and am very analytical when it comes to throwing movements. In track and field, especially regarding the throwing events, it can be very difficult to find and keep a consistent coach. During my athletic career I unfortunately had nine different main event coaches, which forced me into learning a lot on my own and developing my own training regimes. With any athlete I work with, I want to help build this same level of confidence, independence and adaptability.

About the lesson

1st Session: Watch you throw without giving any cues and record some videos to discuss with you

2nd Session: Start giving cues and go over goals, strengths, weaknesses, etc. We will also measure some of your throws and explosive movements (underhand, overhand, jumps).

3rd Session: Start getting to work and measure improvement every few weeks! Oh, and also have a lot of fun.

Middle school, high school, and helped teammates during college

Finding a throwing coach can be very difficult (it isn't a very popular sport), but looking for any coach familiar with explosive movements and power output is essential. You can also reach out to current college athletes, but they may be busy and not allowed to help much due to NCAA compliance rules.
