About Lisa

I have been a professional artist for many, many years, and I love to share my knowledge and skills with others. I have a BFA in painting and an MFA in illustration. I have taught classes and workshops from my studio, at our community college, and at local schools. I work in painting, drawing, and printmaking. I have also taken several art courses online as part of my MFA program. So I have a good understanding of how to communicate about art effectively.

I am passionate about my art and teaching. The students in my workshops are always very appreciative and most of them return again. Teaching others about art techniques gives me an opportunity to learn, too, by watching them work and seeing how they each interpret the project in their own way.

I started teaching almost ten years ago. I taught workshops in the evenings at a local college. Then I began holding classes in my own studio. I also teach as a visiting artist in our local elementary schools and high schools occasionally.

I also teach illustration and graphic design at a local university.

I have a BFA in painting from the University of Illinois and an MFA in illustration from the Savannah Coolege of Art and Design.

I am a successful self-employed professional artist and designer. I also teach illustration and graphic design at the university level.

About the lesson

I like to spend our first meeting asking the student about their goals and what they would like to learn. I also find out about thier prevous experience and look at any samples they would like to show me, either of their own work or of other artists or designers they admire. Then we get started on some preliminary exercises right away.

By the second meeting I will have a plan ready, based on the student's interests, skill level, and goals.

I have worked with students from first grade to adult. My workshops usually appeal to adults who are eager to learn something new.

I have worked with elementary and high school students in the local school district as a visiting artist.

I teach college students in digital techniques.
