Renee really pushed me as an artist to explore myself, and different mediums I would have never experienced without her guidance. Not only does she provides the conversation and knowledge to expand your skills but the freedom to explore different mediums, and to make the crucial mistakes to discover what you really want to express. Without Renee I would have never discovered my passion for performance work without providing a context of the contemporary performance world, or my love for large oil paintings if she hadn’t bought a large canvas and invited me to just try. And it’s this broad range that makes her so valuable as a mentor. Renee helps her students transform just visual work into real art, which has meaning and emotion.

Renee is an extremely talented artist and a brilliantly talented teacher. Renee helped me hone my skills as an artist while not stifling my personal creativity. With Renee's guidance (and patience) I can honestly say that I am proud of the work I create. 10/10 would recommend.

Although Renee taught me many valuable lessons in regards to various art techniques, experimenting with different styles and mediums, and learning about famous artists' works, what I appreciated most about being taught by her was her unwavering encouragement and kindness. I always loved drawing growing up, but it wasn't until I met Renee that I really delved into the art realm and saw "what I could do." She taught me to be proud of what I made, even if it wasn't perfect, and she is the reason I found my passion for watercolor! I also believe that her pushing me is one of the reasons why I ended up declaring a design minor in college! She is both a kind and patient teacher, but what I loved most was how funny she is and how fun that made lessons! Many laughs, great times, and artwork that will last a lifetime!

I spent my work life in a strenuous and time consuming corporate world. Recently retired, I wanted to explore my creative side and eventually was introduced to Renee. In the few private lessons we shared, she has introduced me to mediums (media?), techniques and history that significantly influences creativity I didn't expect. Very patient and supportive, while always guiding, our work together has been extraordinary and look forward to much more.
