About Renee

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work at several prestigious institutions including the Art Students League of New York, the Chelsea Classical School and the New York Academy of Art. Currently, I am Faculty Co-Chair of the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art. I studied and have lived between Europe and the United States, giving me a deep and worldly knowledge of art and ways of teaching. This sets me apart from other instructors. It will be a pleasure to help you master your craft and further your knowledge of contemporary art.

Teaching allows me to stay up to date and relevant in the ever-changing art world. I enjoy meeting new people and taking on the challenge of helping people to see in different ways. My background in statistics and art history has helped with relating and communicating with a wide range of students.

I started teaching because of my love for history and sharing knowledge with others. Not everyone has the luxury of education. And as a female identifying teacher, I feel it is part of my mission in life to spread knowledge to whom and wherever I can. Historically, women were not allowed to go to school or recieve a classical art education. This is one of the many reasons I am very passionate about teaching and started me on my professional path.

Renée has lived between the United States and Paris, France studying fine art and art history. She graduated from the American University of Paris with a BA in Art History, and has her MFA from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. She now resides in Los Angeles and is Co-Chair of Fine Art at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art.

About the lesson

Working with students is always exciting because everyone has different wants and needs. Being classically trained, I have the ability to be flexible and tailor lessons to each students desired goals.

I approach each lesson with the foundational academic training I receieved. Depending on the students needs, I use different exercises or learning goals to each lesson. I start with foundational drawing and/or painting techniques and build from there. Using my art historical background, I like to introduce texts and scholarship on art into each lesson.

With expressed interest, I also offer museum visits for lectures and on site drawing.

K-12, adults, corporate, university level, private and group style lessons.

To be passionate and come into the lessons with an open mind. Be patient with yourself, results are not immediate. We can work together to help you reach your desired goals!

I was the featured artist at the Theatre Raymond Kabbaz Annual French Film Festival sponsored by the French Consulate of Los Angeles. It was an honor to exhibit my work during the festival and connect with fellow francophile Angelenos.
