About Bernadette
I am a patient Art teacher. I believe there is no bad art. I believe in everyone. I am a retired elementary art teacher. I love color! I love people! Art is everywhere it is all around us and in all of us.
I enjoy helping people create something from nothing. I also love showing people that they have an artist inside themselves!
I believe everyone is an artist and there is no such thing as bad art. I also believe that a mistake is just a happy accident that can be made into something beautiful and I wanted to show others how to do that after so many professors mad me feel like my mistakes we wrong. I just knew I could teach in a gentle way.
I have a bachelors in education I taught k12 art for many years. I owned my own Ceramics studio where customers came to do make and take ceramics with me. I am a current thesis candidate in the Academy of Art University of San Francisco fine art program in painting and drawing to receive my masters in fine art. I have taught at Michaels creative classroom oil painting and acrylic painting. I taught water colors at our local university. I taught paint nights before the pandemic.

I will teach them about color theory talk about perspective, teach them how to hold the brush work with the paint. The student will never feel alone or lost, I will never go faster or move a head of the student. If it is a landscape we will learn about the horizon line background and foreground. If it is a still life we will learn about shadow and lighting.
Everyone from pre k to adults.
Ask as many question as you can! There are no silly questions, don't be afraid to start! Painting is like exercise once you begin it feels wonderful and peaceful and meditative. Anyone can do it. Please do not be intimidated. If it seems like I can't do it, I will learn for you, or I might just not have it posted that it is something I can do that you would like to learn... questions are great!
I recently had the pleasure of teaching to a group of ladies via zoom who had not seen eachother in a year! We picked one photo that was emailed to all of them in advace, all of them had similar snacks, similar size canvas and when it was originally set up we were going to meet twice but it was so fun the ladies decided to meet 8 more times! We painted 3 complete paintings and I learned all bout some wonderful women. I also gained 2 pounds, snacking along with them on my zoom camera... worth it!
