About Elisha
I have always been interested in art. My interest began in elementary school. It grew in middle and high school. I won several contest while in high school. I became a visual arts teacher and I am now retired. During my 27 years as a public school art teacher I assisted many young artist in their pursuit of artistic expression. I enjoyed the process of teaching others how to tap into their talents. I have a masters degree in education and a bachelors of arts degree in visual arts. In addition to teaching in the public school systems I have also taught at community centers here and abroad. Additionally I’ve had two exhibitions at my work at Brescia University in Owensboro Kentucky and The wayside mission gallery Louisville Kentucky. Currently I am the visual arts director for Sacred Heart Arts Academy’s model preschool in Louisville,Ky. I have taught for the Louisville Visual Arts Association and was an instructor for Arts Sparks: Speed Museum’s Saturday drop in classes.

I assess the student’s ability and skills by reviewing previous works. I interview this student to determine what the student goals are for instruction. After the interview I develop instruction based on the students desired outcome.
As a public school teacher I’ve worked with a variety of students including “handicapable.”

Most recent art instruction event that makes me smile was after my four year old class completed their windsock project and we went outside to run with them and watch the crepe paper streamers fly. They were adorable! Pure joy! I’m smiling now!:)
