About Amanda
I am a professional artist that specializes in pencil, colored pencil, and pastel drawings. I am also a homeshool mom, and have taught students of all ages. My classes not only teach drawing, but also encourage "right brain" development, which encourages all types of creativity and critical thinking skills.
I really love when my students can see the progress toward their drawing/artistic goals.
I have had many friends ask if I would teach their children who were interested in art. Its been a lot of fun and has just grown from there.
I graduated from IU East in 2002 with a BS in General Studies with a concentration in Fine Art.

Most classes last 10 weeks. The first and last lesson are both self portraits to measure the studnets level of improvement. The rest of the classes are a series of skill building lessons.
I have worked with students as young as 6 to adult.
Find a teacher that really understands what you are wanting to acheive. Some students want to learn how to draw anime characters, and some want to learn realistic/ hyperrealistic drawing. Make sure your intructor is teaching what you would like to learn.
When my students were challenged to draw an image upside down and their drawings turned out much better than they expected.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should ask what their drawing goals are and what they want to draw. Many teachers can teach how to draw specific subject matter, but knowing how to perceive and accuately draw anything is really the best skill a student can have since drawing is basic to ALL forms of art.

Details
My lessons are typicaly held as a 10 week course. Students purchase materials for $30 and then each lesson is $10/ session. Classes are cumulative, so attendace of all classes is encouraged.
