About Hazel

I personalize each lesson plan for the specific student depending on their needs and ideas. I want to help them to reach their creative goals whilst improving their skills.

I'm also a fun and and laid back teacher who is not afraid to give constructive feedback.

I love seeing people fulfilling their creative potential and discover a new side of themselves through the creative process. Everyone's creative spark is different, it's as unique as a fingerprint and I love to facilitate and watch that evolve and develop in each person.

I have taught encaustics one on one to people who were intrigued and interested in the medium. I love to facilitate someone stepping into their creative potential and see them develop their own unique style and creative voice.

I have been classically trained as an oil painter at Miami school of art. I have also been taught in the skill of figurative and plein air landscape painting with an emphasis on building form through color.

I have experience in creating miniature watercolors whilst painting plein air.

My most extensive experience is with encaustic wax which has been my main medium for the last few years, not including the VR medium. I created both figurative and abstract works in encaustics as well as creating encaustic paintings as live performances.

I now have experience creating immersive VR experiences and uploading them to platforms such as AltspaceVR.
I am also part of the NFT community and can guide new artists through the process of creating their first NFT.

About the lesson

The first lesson will be getting to know the student and assessing their level of ease and comfort with the medium I'm teaching and also talking to them about their expectations for the series of lessons, based on their level and any projects or goals they have in mind.
Then I tailor the lesson plan according to the student's goals, helping them to achieve their vision and improve thier skill level.
Each learning experience is crafted specifically for each individual student, so that they will get the most out of the lessons.

Mostly people who were already creative but had an interest in learning a specific medium or technique.

I would talk to them first about your goals and expectations then get a feel for if they can help you reach them. It's a good idea to look at their work and asses whether they can teach you what you want to learn.
It's always good to have a teacher who you get along with and who keeps you interested, whether it's because they challenge you in the right way or because they teach in a humorous, fun filled way. You have to pick someone whose teaching style resonates with you personally.

I have recently started painting live in VR, there was one particular event where my collaborators streamed live music informed by the biorhythms of plants to the event which provided an ambient soundscape as a backdrop.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
.Are they looking to acquire a professional skill or is this a hobby/ fun social activity?
.Does the student have a particular project in mind? And what skills would they need to complete the project?
. Is there a particular area they would like to improve in?
. Also think of logistics, would they prefer in person or zoom classes?
