About Jana

I customize lessons for all abilities and interests. I customize our art lessons based on the student's goals and open them up to new and exciting techniques and materials. My lessons can range from traditional painting and drawing to experimental and "outsider" art. I focus on building creative skills for problem-solving and style discovery. I have experience will people of all ages and skill levels.

COVID UPDATE: Lessons may be modified for an online connection. I have Zoom, high-resolution cameras, and the ability to deliver any needed supplies. In-person lessons require mask wearing.

I love sharing the spark of creativity and watching it set fire for students.

I got started after being requested by friends to help with adults with developmental disabilities group to create emotion boxes. I loved watching the class over the weeks get inspired by each other and proud of the work they created. It sparked a path of sharing and providing creative lessons for all ages and abilities.

After studying fine art illustration at MSDU, I launched my career as a full-time artist providing live painting services, mural art, and studio artwork that has been collected throughout the country. Between 2017 and 2020 I owned a mobile paint party business teaching laid back and creativity-based paint parties. Throughout this time I have contracted with social services for IDD adults, nursing homes, one on one adult and children art lessons, sharing my passion and knowledge in various settings. Most recently I work with Neighborhood Art Studio in the Central Park neighborhood, providing unique after school art lessons for students age 6-16.

About the lesson

I like to get to know my students, their goals and what they like to create already. I build a plan around their goals and skill while exploring new tools to achieve different effects.

PreTeens ages 10-12, beginner

Teens ages 13-19, beginner to moderate

Adults 20-95, beginner to moderate

Talk to them. Make sure they care about your goals and that you feel like you are comfortable asking questions and growing with them. Learning is not top down, but side by side. Find someone who wants to succeed with you.
