About J Douglas

I was the first instuctor to be certified in PA by the then newly formed Motorcycle Safety Foundation.

I went on to create a hugely popular Saturday morning class called Early Riders at the Number 1 Honda dealership in the Northeast.

Much of the curriculum i developed was later incorporated into MSF training.

More recently, I spent 8 years as a Professional Driver / Automotive instructor working for Ford, Nissan, BMW, Mazda, Infiniti and others training safe driving technigues and attitudes.

And my experience as a pilot will help you gain that all- important concept of situational awareness.

You will not only learn how to physically operate your vehicle, you will learn how to be safe.

I really enjoy seeing people succeed, and knowing that I have helped them to appreciate solid safety principles.

My very first experience was as a Motorcycle Safety Foundation instructor in the last century. I’ve been a corporate instructor in many fields since.

Forty years of riding experience with 10 of those managing a large motorcycle safety facility at my Honda dealership.

Eight years as a professional driver / automotive instructor under ontract for all the major manufacturers.

In another field another field, I have been training people to excel in public speaking for 25 years. My company’s program eliminates humans’ most common fear and allow presenters to speak without notes or a script.

I have published two books and two feature-length DVDs on presentation design and delivery, and a copy of my “Killer Presentation Skills DVD is included in your tuition.

About the lesson

I work with students on their own machines at an appropriate spot. Initial lessons consist of 20 minutes of “groundschool” and 40 minutes on the bike.

For those willing to devote their best, learning what you need to be safe and proficient can happen in as little as one lesson. Depending on the student, a follow-up lesson or two can always be helpful.

Feel confident that I will stay with you until we both feel you are ready to hit the road.

All - from young novice to experienced professional.

Find one who not only knows how to do but also how to teach.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
By the end of your lesson(s), what do most want to have accomplished?

Doug was very understanding and attentive to my needs. I not only learned how to drive (safely), but also learned to deal with my fears and how to be assertive and polite at the same time.

Doug saved the day and I now test my son with my car. Lord knows I tried long and hard enough to teach him, but my lessons with him always led to arguments - often about other things. Parents shouldn’t try to teach their kids to drive. That’s what angels like Doug are for.

Doug was great! Patient, thoughtful and forgiving of my initial mistakes. Unique insights into safety. I’d highly recommend.
