About Kristen
I'm an 8th grade language arts teacher with a Master's degree. Tutoring in English is my passion, and working with small groups or one-on-one is an amazing opportunity to teach. I will help students achieve their goals by making the material relevant and interesting. My passion for the subject area will shine through in everything we do!
I love working with teenagers and watching their face light up when they realize how much fun reading is and how what we read connects to other stories and our lives. I'm passionate about language arts and about helping others to enjoy the same thing. In addition, I enjoy the opportunity to work with teens who struggle with language arts, maybe don't like it so well, but show them how fun and enjoyable it is and how successful they can be at it.

As a teacher, the first thing I want to do is touch base with the parent and the child to find out what the perceived problem is. Then, I would have the child complete a few things for me to figure out where the issues lie and how best to help. Also, figuring out what the child is interested in and what motivates the child helps as well.
