About Ramya
Hi! My name is Ramya and I'm a 3rd year at Georgia Tech! I have formal writing experience and a journalism background where I served as an editor for 3 years! While tutoring, I specialize in sentence structure, grammar correction, writing, essay editing, proofreading, brainstorming, and more! I personalize lessons so it makes sense to your student!
I have been working with students for most of my life and I deeply enjoy it! I work to understand how everyone learns differently and look forward to findinng new ways to teach information!
I have been tutoring online for 6 months now; however, I have plenty of prior experience in teaching and essay editing! I worked as a taekwondo instructor for 5 years where I catered to a variety of students of different ages, backgrounds, and learning levels. I understand that not everyone learns the same way and stive to come up with a learning path particular to each student! Along with my instructor experience I was also part of a journalism program for 3 years where I served as an editor. In this position I edited articles to be published!
In terms of a formal education I have an Associates degree in Computer Science and am a 3rd year candidate for a Bachelor's in Mathematics with a double minor in Korean and Social Justice.

Depending on the type of essay review/essay formation we are doing, I will cater lessons differently. If we are reviewing an already written essay, I plan to use different methods to first have students try and identify their own mistakes, prior to jumping in and providing my own input. In lessons where we need to generate ideas for essay topics or brainstorm, I plan to use different mapping techniques to help them come up with diverse ideas. Then I will guide them through a detailed essay drafting proccess, that is sustainable for future essays.
