About Bailey
I have a BA in History and English, and I am currently completing a Master's program in History at Boston College. I have worked in childcare and education for several years, most recently as a substitute teacher in Lafayette, Louisiana. Before this I worked at educational summer camps as well as working one-on-one informally with elementary school children on their math and reading skills.

When meeting a new student, it's important to assess their comfort with whatever we're working on before really diving in on the subject. Struggling with school can be very difficult emotionally, and addressing a student's concerns and feelings about the subject we'll work on as soon as possible can help direct our future sessions more productively.
Be careful to find a teacher that explains why changes need to be made in your writing, instead of just correcting your work. You need a teacher, not an editor, and they need to work with you and not separately.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think carefully about the feedback you've gotten that led you to seek out additional help- what are those areas and where do you think your own weak spots are? Was the feedback fair or misguided, and why? Most importantly, what are your own goals beyond just getting a better grade? Especially for writing, it's important to clarify how you'd like to improve your work, whether that's grammar, tone, structure, vocabulary, or if you'd just like better test prep scores.
