About Olivia

I am a professional journalist and recent graduate of the University of Oregon. Most of my experience is with non-fiction writing, including academic and journalistic writing. In college, I specialized in copywriting and worked as a writing coach for the journalism writing center. I currently work and freelance remotely in journalism, and you can view my work at (concealed information)

Please note that I only work with high school age students and above. Some exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis for middle school students, please contact me directly for more details.

I am passionate about writing, grammar and editing. I am a sensitive and receptive tutor, and will work with you to improve overall as a writer, not just improve individual assignments. I look forward to working with you!

I hold a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon in Advertising. I worked as a Writing Coach in the School of Journalism and Communication while I was a student, and I currently work in the journalism industry. I have bylines in Bustle, Elite Daily, Apartment Therapy, Mic, and Forbes Vetted.

About the lesson

We'll have a short consultation session in a public setting or over Zoom to determine your needs, strengths and areas for improvement. From there, we'll schedule your first tutoring session and get to work!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should consider what their strengths are: In my experience, many students come to me thinking they are a "bad writer" and express that they don't know what they're doing. In fact, they almost always have a strength in writing, but struggle with something specific that, once identified and resolved, helps their voice to shine through.
