About George
I recently graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor's degree (Cum Laude) in English not just because I feel comfortable in the subject but also because I love English! If I am not looking into new ways to discover how to grow my teaching methods, then I probably have my head buried in a book. While I do not have my certification in teaching just yet, I am going through the process of school again to attain that certification. My experience is mostly limited to working with fellow classmates and I would typically find myself in a leadership position to help with learning the subjects. For my personal methodology, I would say either Constructivist Approach or Inquiry-Based Learning. Both do have their advantages and disadvantages but I do believe that the best idea to learn in a classroom is how to use a tool as well as to promote critical thinking.

I have been informally tutoring classmates during my tenure at both Monterey Peninsula College and San Jose State University. Since graduating from both schools, I am currently in the process of attaining my teaching credential certification in the next year. While I do specialize in English, I can still work with Math and some Science at an Elementary or Middle School level.

My typical process for working with a new student is first to spend a few moments getting to know one another and piece together where exactly they need their focus. After that, we will pull up some previous or recent work to discuss where exactly we are in terms of reading/writing levels.

My standard pricing for each lesson starts at 25$ per hour. As I am located out of the Carmel and Monterey area, I am capable and reliable to make house calls so long as COVID safety protocols are enforced.
