About Ellie

I'm a unique tutor because I'm experienced but I can also relate to the students as a peer (I'm a junior in high school myself). I am skilled in SAT prep, having earned a 1530 on the SAT in the summer before my sophomore year in high school. I have taken and earned a 5 on the AP Exam in the following courses: AP Human Geography, AP Computer Science Principles, AP World History, AP Psychology, and AP Chemistry. I am enrolled this year in AP Biology, AP Calculus AB and BC, and AP Environmental Science. In addition, I am an Adobe Certified Expert in video communication and a certified Microsoft Excel Expert. I also have experience in Math 1-3, precalculus, chemistry, biology, and anatomy and physiology and can teach these classes to middle or high school level students. Although I am still in high school, I believe I have enough experience to help students as much as or more than a professional tutor would.

I'm really excited to help students accomplish their goals in their classes! I have enjoyed working with a few other students already and I was excited to see them grow their knowledge (and test scores). I hope to help more students meet their targets in the future.

I always liked to help out the other students in my classes. When I realized that tutoring could be a way for me to help my parents pay for my college tuition at Stanford (where I will be going in September 2023) it was a no-brainer!

About the lesson

This is tailored to the needs of the student. If the student wants to improve their grade in a class, I can help them find the best study techniques for them and go over previous tests and quizzes. I can also help them keep up in their classes by working on homework and projects with them as needed!

I have worked with high school students in their math classes. I am also able to tutor middle school students.

I would say that the most important thing is finding someone who will help you meet your goals, whether that is getting the grade you want in a class or learning something new. For math or science, the best tutors are people who have a lot of experience in the subject and are good problem-solvers so that they can find ways to help you learn the things you are struggling with.

I traveled to California during the summer and I am very fond of the memories I made there. I got to meet many new people and visited Los Angeles and San Francisco.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think students should ask themselves "What am I struggling with, and what can my teacher do to help me?" Sometimes students know that they need some extra support to meet their goals, but they aren't exactly sure what that support should look like. If the student can identify what is preventing them from reaching their goals and communicate this to their teacher, a good teacher will be able to come up with a plan to support the student.

Tutoring for math classes up to Precalculus: $25 per hour

Tutoring for middle or high school chemistry or biology: $25 per hour

Tutoring for SAT prep: $20 per hour

Tutoring for English and Social Studies classes: $20 per hour

Tutoring for AP classes: $15 per hour

I believe this pricing system is fair based on my experience in these subjects.
