About Catherine
I have been a classroom teacher for 5 years. I have taught in Louisiana and Texas. I am certified in and have taught both special education & regular education in grades K-8th; therefore, I have knowledge about most subjects and curriculums, from elementary to middle school.
I have also been a tutor for Sylvan Learning Center for 2 years. While there, I tutored a range of students, from elementary to college. I have assisted with all subject areas of tutoring, with reading, English, & writing being my top three choices.
I enjoy making and leaving the impact of valuing and learning the importance of education within our society. I also enjoy helping students become confident in their abilities and to strive to become successful at that current stage. Because of my dedication, I have been nominated and won Teacher of the Month twice.
I began teaching at a Title 1 school in Louisiana.
My education is as follows:

I usually introduce myself and engage in small-talk with the students, so that we can become comfortable and acquainted with one another. I usually asks questions, such as, "What is your name?" "What name do you like to be called?" "What is your favorite food, place to go, or tv show?"
I have worked with general and special education students of all backgrounds and social economic status.
I would say to make sure that the teacher is out-spoken, a good listener, a problem solver, yet easy-going and fun. This way, you will be able to learn without too much pressure of getting right or wrong answers.
I am teaching kindergarten for the very first time this year! It has been a challenge getting to know the new curriculum, but interacting with and teaching the children keeps my career rewarding.
