About Jade

Hello!

For each student, I will provide the specific materials which are necessary (if not already existing) after an evaluation of where they are at in their development.

I have experience tutoring fellow students in high school and elementary students.

I am a student in college studying finance and I have spent around 10 years in the Frisco-ISD school system. I struggled quite a lot studying in high school and by being taught by my fellow peers/teachers, I was able to learn how to teach others.

I really enjoy seeing the moment that students are able to grasp new concepts as it feels like I am paying it forward to my previous mentors!

About the lesson

1. Give a test - For Reading/English it would be a having students read a short novel aloud and if advanced, also comprehension test

2. Set incremental goals to achieve every week and month (i.e. For this month we will read through at least 4 short stories, one each week, and write a small summary on what it is about)

3. Assign an appropriate amount of homework each week

Overall:

I am a firm believer in critical thinking being essential for students and adults to succeed. I will be encouraging and incorporating this into my teaching.

I also will cater to the interests of the students to keep them stimulated in their learning journey. This would be books with specific subjects that they like or activities that they enjoy learning through.

Young students especially need breaks between learning to be able to learn for longer periods of time. With that in mind, small 5 min breaks will regularly be every 30 min and more if necessary.
