About Elizabeth

My main goal in tutoring is to help students feel motivated and excited about their work. I think one of the biggest struggles as a student is not getting disheartened when we don't understand a concept or don't have the studying habits to succeed. I want the students I work with to see challenging lessons as an opportunity to grow rather than obstacles to success. If you are looking for a super strict tutor who will get on your case about doing your work, that's not me. My tutoring style is rooted in the fundemental belief that students should be encouraged to learn rather than discouraged by harsh teaching.

I enjoy when a student is excited to tell me about the book that they read or the A on the test that we studied for. When a student shows geniune excitement about the work we do together, I know I've done something right.

I am a current student at Pepperdine University. During high school, I ran the Study Buddy tutoring program at my public library for four years. I also have 6 years of private tutoring experience.

About the lesson

I like to hear what the student I am working with needs first, and then develop a learning plan for our sessions based on their particular situation and learning goals.

I have worked with many different kinds of students. I can work with students who need a tutor because they are struggling with a concept, want extra practice, need help doing homework, or are hoping for study/orginizational tips. I love working with students to find ways that they can become stronger, happier learners.
