I ask students to bring their last writing assignment with them and any graded essays they my have from school. I ask the student to list any weaknesses they feel they may have so we can work through their problematic areas.
I have worked with trouble youth and academicly challenged students.
advice I would give a student looking for a tutor in my area is to make sure they are a personality fit. Student tend to learn from tutors they get along with.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think through what they want to accomplish after each tutoring session and what are their goals after they have completed all tutoring sessions.
