About Frisco Flute Studio: HERE YOU BELONG Music making doesn’t happen alone in a practice room (although much of the work happens there!) The MAGIC comes when we share our flute playing with others. Whether it is during a studio class or recital or experiencing a Detroit Symphony Orchestra concert together, you will connect, be supported and become a member of our TRIBE. Whether we meet during your band class, in a virtual lesson or in my home studio, you will be a part of a very special group of flutists who know that the key to making music is EACH OTHER. About Lessons: We have parties, we snap chat (well, I’m told my students snap chat!), we flip grid, we play chamber music, we text, we volunteer. We walk this flute life TOGETHER. When you sign up for lessons you will: - Receive instruction from a seasoned, professional flutist - Become a member of our Amazing community of musicians - Enjoy having a personal cheerleader On Your Side About Katie: As a graduate of the esteemed Eastman School of Music (BM, MM) and Interlochen Arts Academy, I believe in unlocking the musical potential within my students by equipping them with solid fundamentals, exposing them to great performances, and encouraging each student to develop and trust their own unique, creative voice. With over 20 years of teaching experience as well as being a mother to three children of my own, I have a special ability to reach the heart of her students to draw out their greatest potential.

Having studied flute performance at the Eastman School of Music (BM, MM) and Interlochen Arts Academy and having taught both privately and collegiately for 20 years, I am a seasoned professional who understands how to draw out your student's highest potentional.

About the lesson

Having taught flutists ranging in ability from beginner through conservatory level, I am uniquely positioned to meet your student where they are at in their studies. In addition to teaching music, I believe in equiping our youth to be successful in all areas of their lives. The study of a musical instrument builds skills such as critical thinking, resiliency, perseverence and creativity. I see my work as providing a solid foundation upon which each student can use to fulfill their dreams, musical or otherwise, in the future
