About Alexandra
I want to help students feel more confident about their voice and give them the tools they need to succeed. Although I am open to students of any age or level, I would especially love to help high school students prepare for All-State Chorus and college auditions. My goal is to have a healthy balance of encouragement and critique so that my students can learn the disciple necessary to meet their goals and also have fun while doing it. Even though I am just starting out, my experiences as a voice student are fresh on my mind, so I know what it is like to be in their shoes. I'll do everything I can to meet my students' specific needs so they can improve their skills and enjoy singing.
My favorite thing to do is help students achieve their goals and go beyond what they thought was possible. During my time as a music student, I would encourage and offer to help to my fellow students, especially the ones who were ready to give up. The most rewarding thing was to see them nail the audition or the performance and know that I was able to help them achieve. Music was never about competition or pride for me, it was about helping those around me and working together to become the best version of ourselves. I want to inspire a strong work ethic and genuine love of music in my students.
I am just starting my teaching career. I am currently exchanging voice lessons with my piano teacher in order to gain more experience giving lessons.
I am set to graduate with a Bachelor's of Arts in Music from Berry College in Spring of 2022. I studied classical voice as a soprano under Ruth Baker during my years at Berry. I attended GMEA All-State Chorus for 6 years as well as Sight-Reading Choir for 2 years.

I want to make sure the student has a solid foundation for proper vocal technique before we start training. I'll start by inquiring about the student's vocal background and have them sing a few warm-ups to assess technique. Depending on the level of the student, I will give them a rundown on proper breathing and vocal production then have them sing through some of the warm-ups with these concepts in mind. I'll then ask about what kind of music they are interested in singing and come up with some suggestions as to what we can start working on. We will identify some goals to focus on during our time together and come up with a practice strategy. We will end the lesson by singing through a song of their choice and I'll give them some feedback for them to use in practice.
So far I have worked with college students at my level, giving them pointers and suggestions in a classroom setting.
Look for someone who can address your specific goals. It's also important to find a teacher you feel like you can connect with. You'll be spending a lot of time with this person, so make sure their teaching style is compatible with how you learn.
