About Terri

Hello! I have taught voice, speech, various dialects of English and accent reduction for nearly 15 years. My students have varied in age and abilities, and I love working with all skill levels. Most recently, I served as an accent teacher at New York University.

I began substitute teaching at my college directly after graduation and fell in love with the material.

BFA in Acting with emphasis in Voice and Speech- Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle, WA)

About the lesson

I like to have a conversation where we talk about goals and expectations. Accent work can be a long process, and requires practice. We will begin by assessing where the student is at and start to understand how to form and change sounds.

I've worked with students ages 5 to 70. I am often hired for professional theatre projects as well as teaching in the classroom.

I always want to clarify that I never want to "change" the way you speak. Our voices are how we convey our thoughts and emotions to the world and they are very personal. But I do understand that in the professional world communication is key and anything that can help boost confidence in this arena is helpful. I want to give you tools that you can use to help communicate more effectively, but not fundamentally change they way you speak.
