About Skunk

I’m a professional musian residing in Austin, TX with over 15 years of teaching experience (guitar, piano, group classes, all ages). I can give you a solid foundation in music theory and essential technique etc. while also helping you to learn the songs that inspire you to play. I look forward to sharing the beauty of music with you :)

I love music and sharing it with others. Music is a language and once you speak it you’re forever a member of universal community.

I started giving a few private lessons around 2005 then applied at a music school in 2006. Currently I teach online lessons and work as a contractor with a music school. I have also worked in non-profit programs mentoring kids.

Over 15 years of experience teaching music (primarily piano and guitar, but also drums, bass and group classes). That is the best training.

Also, music theory and classical guitar studies in college and attended the Musician's Institute in Los Angeles where I studied guitar, performance and theory among others.

I have toured several times and recorded a variety of albums as well. I've been working professionally soley as a musician since 2006.

About the lesson

Find out what their goals are an assess what they already know and are comfortable with with a possible review of some basic chords/theory etc. It's important to approach each new student with the understanding that everyone is differnet with a different set of goals and personal strengths. Tapping into one's stregths and helping people to realize they're own unique potential is a real joy.

Just about any situation. I do prefer to work with adults or teenages.

Find someone you vibe with and someone who is passionate. Experience does help, becuase just like anything else you get better the more you do something. I have a track record with hundreds of students so I feel very confident these days as a teacher.
