About Owen

Owen Conforte is a professional guitarist actively freelancing in New England. With a bachelor's degree in music performance from the University of Southern Maine (2012) and 17 years of performing experience across many genres (blues, pop, rock, country, and jazz), Owen's versatility carries over into his education.

After taking private lessons with world class teachers and seeing the limitations of other online courses, Owen has developed a convenient and customized experience that really puts each student on their own fast-track. Every bit of music theory is instantly applied by playing popular songs (many times they are special requests made by the student). After most sessions, Owen will often follow up by making private YouTube videos to help provide further insight to guitar lessons and accelerate the students learning process significantly. I recieved my bachelor's degree in jazz performance from University of Southern Maine (2012). Since then, I've had the privalege to perform with countless bands, including a nationally touring Prince tribute (Dean Ford & The Beautiful Ones), a 19-piece big band (The Fogcutters), and a label signed country/pop artist (Max Ater). The most notable achievements outside of regular performing are the times I wrote the music score for a musical (You Can't Stop the Music, 2010) and the time I helped write the score and acted (as a guitarist) in an indepedent film (Colossus, 2012).

About the lesson

My first lesson with a new student is a free trial. This makes trying out lessons absolutely risk free. After having a conversation and giving the student a few things to work on, we figure out the best path forward. This makes it so we can really hit the ground running in our follow up lesson.

I've had the privalege of working with students from the ages of 5 to 75! I love the fact that everybody comes to lessons with their own personal goals. Many of my students fall into three categories: they're just staring out, they got started by using apps/YouTube and need help with the next steps, or they've been playing for many years and hit a plateau (I've been nicknamed "The Doc" by these students).
