About Nicholas

As a versatile and experienced musician, I believe in teaching the language of music, not just individual instruments. Whether you're just starting your musical journey or aiming to refine your skills, I tailor each lesson to meet you where you are, helping you grow at your own pace. My teaching style is grounded in creating a supportive, patient environment where every lesson is custom-designed to match your unique goals and interests.

With formal training from Columbia College Chicago and Wayne State University, as well as a full-ride scholarship to Bowling Green State University, I bring an advanced understanding of music that spans multiple genres and instruments, including piano, guitar, trumpet, and bass. My professional career has taken me on national tours and opening for rock legends like Tesla, Bret Michaels, and 3 Doors Down. I’m proudly endorsed by Warwick Basses.

In our lessons, I focus on instilling a love for music through a mix of student-guided song choices, technical exercises, and repertoire from classical, jazz, and contemporary genres. We’ll explore everything from ear training and sight-reading to theory and groove—because at the heart of all music is the groove. Whether you want to master double bass, experiment with different styles, or simply express yourself through music, I’ll help you unlock your musical potential.

Let’s work together to build not just your skills but your confidence and passion for music. Every step of the way, I’ll ensure our lessons are engaging, challenging, and, most importantly, fun. Your musical journey is unique, and I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

Perfect! He’s professional, experienced, and enjoys what he does. As a student, I couldn’t ask for a better teacher. I’m going on week 3 and he’s noticed so much progress in myself. I recommend him 200%.

Perfect! Nic is an excellent communicator. He is very positive and encouraging. And he is a highly talented musician! I'm lucky to have found him for piano lessons for my 16 years old son!

Nic makes learning music fun. He's supportive of different learning styles, as my kids have different preferences. For example, one likes to write her own songs and he helps her write it out. My other kids like to play popular songs that they know from the radio. He gets to know them and helps them develop from the stage they're at. We've been taking lessons from Nic for over 5 years now and highly recommend him!

Nic is a great teacher. Flexible, and a good communicator. He has been very helpful as my daughter has been navigating upright bass college auditions. I highly recommend him.

Nic is the best music teacher my kids have ever had. He's great at multiple instruments (he teaches guitar to one child and piano to another), and is really great with kids of all ages. I highly recommend him.
