About Lance

I have a wealth of patience when it comes to imparting ideas and concepts to students. Everyone has a different rate of comprehention and retention. Taking that into account provides the opportunity to teach and builds confidence in the student. This is the road to ones enjoyment of playing music.

I have been playing guitar for 40 years as well as singing,writing and performing. I have my heart and soul firmly planted in the singer songwriter firmament and classic rock. Though folk,rock and blues based music remain my passion, i keep an open mind and a well tuned ear toward all forms of contemporary music.

I have worked in the field of music as a writer, performer, and recording engineer. I studied under a concert pianist while in college and switched to guitar shortly thereafter. I spent my formative years living and being immersed in the Greenwich Village music scene where I had numerous mentors as I developed. I have also taken songwriting workshops through the Songwriters Hall of Fame. I am continually learning and am a self taught artist to a great extent.

About the lesson

I will ask the student what type of music they like. I will assess their skill level and ask them if there is anything specific they are looking to learn. For a beginner I will basically lay out a curriculum a more structured approach to the basics of music and theory.
