Jennie individualizes lessons for students, combining theory with application. When our son has a song he wants to learn, Jennie helps him find a version within his ability level so he is successful as a guitarist; this motivates him to continue with his lessons and practicing. She has been flexible with lessons that have needed to be rescheduled and offers online lessons in addition to in-person lessons.

Jennie is always patient with any musical lesson. Her wealth of knowledge on instruments and musical theory is amazing! She keeps students interested and motivated.

I continued working with her when I was in high school and she really encouraged me in my own songwriting and helped me do some recording. Jennie was my teacher between the ages of 10 and about 17. The defining characteristic of that experience was Jennie being much more interested in motivating me and cultivating my musical interest, than she was being a disciplinarian over an instrument. I never found myself practicing out of obligation or being intimidated by her, which kept music exciting. She instigated my curiosity and directed my growth, and she did it with genius foresight. Retrospectively, as someone who has since taken many music classes with many instructors being an audio engineering major, I can recognize and appreciate how special that ability is in a music teacher. To simply say Jennie taught me to play guitar would be insulting. Jennie brought my fledgling interest to a lifelong passion. She laid the foundation for my musical taste and shaped the ethics I carry to music, all the while maintaining the essence of serenity that made it appealing to begin with. At 23, music is an invariable tenant of my life and it’s frightening to imagine it without the affinity for music Jennie was so instrumental in affording me. My world is far richer having known and learned from Jennie, I’ll always be profoundly grateful for her.

Guitar lessons with Jennie have been the best thing I've ever given my daughter. Jennie is patient, encouraging, and passionate about her craft, and she goes out of her way to instill confidence in her students. My normally very shy daughter can now be heard animately telling Jennie about her day and laughing about song lyrics. She loves playing and is proud of her accomplishments after every lesson. Not only is Jennie very personable and easy to work with, she makes sure to understand what goals the student has and what kind of music they are interested in. Jennie does a great job teaching the individual student. She has a curriculum that can be adjusted to fit each student. I started with the basics, learned a full song that I could go out and play right away and also learned theory when I was ready for it.
