About Glen

* We have provided first-class music instruction to the Joliet/Plainfield community since 1992.

* All our instructors are active performers in church and community music groups.

* Student recitals are held twice a year along with contests for advancing players.

* Several former students are professional musicians or certified school music teachers.

Sharing a love of music is our way of helping students enhance their lives. Watching them advance is one of the most rewarding parts of our work. We believe that music is an important part of any student's education!

I started teaching as a sideline in our home and liked it so much I decided to open our own studio in 1992. This seemed to be the best way to share my love of music with the community.

I have been playing piano, organ, and singing for over 40 years in churches, schools and community theater. My music education includes several years of private lessons and master classes at Chicago City College and Northwestern University. I was also a staff accompanist at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN and traveled around the Midwest with school-sponsored music groups.

About the lesson

We evaluate previous musical experience and decide on a method to improve their skills. Personal interests are also taken into account. Students with no previous training will work with an age-appropriate course of study that emphasizes music theory, playing technic and sight reading skills.

Our staff has worked with students of all ages and background, including special needs children. I especially enjoy working with advancing students who are interested in becoming performing musicians and teachers.

We encourage new students to meet with their prospective instructor to discuss background and teaching style. This is the best way to insure a good match for student goals and interests.

Our last pre-COVID Honors Recital was held in November, 2019 featuring over 25 of our best players. Five of these students were also invited to participate in the Downers Grove Music Club Piano Festival and Competition for the second year in a row.

Details

Lesson fees are charged by the month and paid directly to the instructor. Our rates are $120 for an average month based on 4 weeks in the month. Regular lessons are 30 minutes per week with longer times available on request.
