About Sharon

As a private music teacher, recording artist, studio vocalist and film composer/songwriter, I share my love of music-making from a working musician's perspective. I have been teaching holistic voice for 30 years, pros to beginners. It is my passion to help people who want to sing, play the guitar and express themselves more fully, to enjoy the path to their goals.

If you want to learn to sing and play at the same time, I can help. If you play but want to write your own songs, I can help. If all of the songs you are playing and singing sound the same, I can help. I teach beginning to intermediate acoustic guitar with a focus on learning chords, playing songs, and creating interest through right hand techniques that make your playing and song arrangements more interesting. I do not teach music theory and notation per se, but there is some theory embedded in learning this chords-and-songs-focused guitar method. Songwriting sessions are also available, or a blend of guitar, performance and/or songwriting. All lessons and sessions are online for now. I use Zoom, Facetime and Messenger Video.

I am a professional performing singer-songwriter, 30-year Singing Body facilitator, studio vocalist, skilled acoustic guitarist, and the music director for CSL Delaware. As the only teacher of The Singing Body in the U.S., a movement-based self-expression system that helps anyone at any level from professional to terrified, I offer access to an incredible program for developing presence, confidence, better pitch and tone.

I am a born teacher. I love helping people clarify and reach their personal goals around singing, writing, playing and self-expression.

Music is a profound, emotional path to being a happier, well-rounded and mentally healthier human. I love sharing the path to more happiness as a creative person in the act of creating.

My voice teacher offered a teacher training in the holistic singing program I had studied for 3 years, suggesting that I would be a good teacher of this work. I agreed. I became his assistant in teaching classes and private sessions in the U.S. London, and Canada.

I have been teaching the Singing Body Seminar and working with private students for 30 years. I am a recording artist with 7 albums of original music, the music director for CSL Delaware and a performing singer-songwriter playing house concerts, festivals, listening rooms and other concert venues.

About the lesson

I assess the student’s goals, skills and talents via conversation, vocal exercises and/or playing music together. Then we set up a time for weekly lessons and I structure lessons to meet those goals.

NOTE: All lessons are online until we are able to safely meet at CCArts or in your home.

Every type: beginners, professionals, intermediate and out of practice; kids, young adults and those in their 60s. Music as music therapy, and coaching for bands going into the studio to record their first album. All are welcome!

Be clear on your goals and find the teacher who is the best fit, both personality-wise, teaching style and location.

I've had other guitar teachers in my life but Sharon is the best! She teaches you what you want to learn and can adapt to any skill level. I was fairly advanced but wanted to get back into playing after a long hiatus and she just rocks. She's fun to play with she is SO talented. Love her!!

Details

The Singing Body Seminar is a 3.5 hour workshop that teaches the self-expression and singing method that I use. The standard workshop price is $75, and includes an 11x17 laminated Home Warmup sheet plus an MP3 to sing with at home. One on One, the class is $97-108. Online prices are different - currently the seminar is $75 and private one hour lessons are $30.

When we return to in-person work:
If you are in the Delaware/PA area (or on Sharon's tour route) and organize a class in your home or church etc., gathering 5 other friends to take it with you, your class is free. Date and location must be confirmed with Sharon Bousquet for scheduling purposes.
