About Phaedra
Fostering a love for music through teaching and performing. Award winning students and students who have earned their way into the colleges of their choice. Teaching in the Kansas City area since 2001. I hold a bachelors degree in pedagogy (the art of teaching) and a masters degree in music theory. I teach because I love helping students discover the world of music and how to make notes become meaningful.
My first student was when I was still in high school, she retired and was looking for a project to keep her mind busy. My teachers and student felt I was very natural as an educator. After moving to the Midwest, I decided I would start a music Studio for teaching and performing. I have enjoyed it very much and my students have become like family.
My bachelors and masters degrees are both in music. I have also taken training in eurythmics and Educational Kinesiology to better myself as a teacher to learners of all ages.

The initial lesson is free. This is an opportunity to meet, for you to learn about the Studio and have a sample lesson. This gives me a chance to do an assessment of learning style and interest so I can better know how to customize the lessons.
i have worked with students who have had background in music, some who are brand new to music, students who are gifted and others who are learning challenged.
I understand that the cost of lessons is a big determining factor, but know what you are getting for your money. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for references.
Each July there is a regional festival called Mid America Music Association. I challenged each of my students who opted to participate, and they all earned trophies. I was so proud of them.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
This is so unique to each student, it really is up to the teacher you are interviewing to provide a very comprehensive overview of their program and to ask the student and parent probing questions that will help the conversation build.
