About Karen

Sly Fox Run Farm, is a facility that is both casual and friendly. Specializing in the new rider, we stress safety and the importance of learning all aspects of horsemanship. Working at your own pace, we will show you how to properly groom, tack up, and do ground work with a horse in addition to riding. We believe it is necessary to learn everything from the ground up to truly become an experienced well rounded horseman.

About the Instructor

As a child Karen Lesko-Molnar always had a true passion for horses.  From pony rides as a toddler, to lessons, then finally owning her first horse at age 13.  As a teen she represented Middlesex County in the Horse Bowl, Horse Judging, Horse Show, and Trail Ride Teams, and was the County's Equestrian of the Year several times.  She has been an instructor for over 30 years, and has been certified by the American Riding Instructor's Association (ARIA) for over 25 years.  She is a well rounded horsewoman having successfully competed in Hunt Seat Equitation, Hunter, Driving, Western Horsemanship, Western Pleasure, Showmanship, Gymkhana, and Long Distance Competitive Trail Riding.

In addition she has been Central Jersey Horseman's Association's Western Trainer of the Year several times, and she is in the very small percent who has been honored by Who's Who Among America's Teachers three times.  In 2007 Karen was named one of the Top 50 Instructors of the Year by the ARIA and her horse Bo Skip Joe was named ARIA's School Horse of the Year.

Karen recently graduated from the New Jersey Agricultural Leadership Development Program (Class VII).  The  two year program is a joint effort between the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Rutgers University, The New Jersey Farm Bureau, and The New Jersey Agricultural Society.  It's purpose is to help people in the farming industry to develop leadership skills they can use to promote the industry.  The program not only studies agriculture in the state, but an international trip as well.  There are only appoxiamately 20 people choosen every two years to participate in the program.

Karen is always continuing her equine education whether it is by attending seminars, lectures, watching videos, or reading books and magazines.

Her students have won many championships in different disciplines, including the NJ 4-H State Championships.

About the Program

In the beginning you will ride by yourself.  As you progress you may choose to move into a small group of similarly experienced riders.  We do not teach large groups of riders. When a rider is ready, he/she has the option to go to horse shows and/or trail rides off the property.  We also have a camp and a few horse shows a year on the property that are open only to our students.

We offer lessons in

Western Horsemanship

Showmanship

Trail

Hunt Seat Equitation

Low Fences

We teach riders from the ages of six on up through adults.  Our goal is to develop riders that are confident, responsible and safe.  We emphasize respect for the horse, as well as good  sportsmanship toward fellow students.

Our horses are happy, healthy and they are kept for life.

Worked with students of all ages. Really enjoy teaching those new to horses.
