About Matthew
I am currently a student at Georgia Tech, and as a student, I fully understand where traditional classes miss the mark and know how to bridge the gap for your success. Currently, I have accumulated about 1 year's worth of experience tutoring math, but ultimately I have been tutoring on and off for far longer. I graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA, got a 5 on 5 of 6 of my AP exams, scored a 35 on my ACT, and currently have a 3.4 GPA in Aerospace Engineering. I had a friend whose little brother needed a math tutor.
As I listed above, I have been very successful in the classroom and tutored middle school algebra for 1 year. I am very patient with students and I listen to their problems, starting by having them walk me through how they would do problems and explaining to me why they would do each step.

When I begin with a new student, I try to get to know them. Understanding someone's personality can speak volumes to what problems they may be having with learning material in a classroom setting. I listen to what they have to say about their current teacher and listen to what they struggle with, and then I briefly review the basics to see how well built their foundation is. After that, I build from there until they understand the foundation well enough to apply it to new topics on their own.
Mostly middle school as I said, though I have also helped relatives at the elementary, high school, and college levels as well.
My advice would be to find someone who is flexibile with how they teach material. Not everyone learns the same way, especially when it comes to Math, and you need a tutor who will get to know you and teach to your strengths in order for you to really understand the material.
Recently, my sister came to me for help (which she hates doing because she wants to do everything on her own) and I was able to help her get an A on a math exam at Kennesaw State University which felt really good because she finally asked me for help and I did not let her down.
