About Alex

Hi!

My name is Alex and I am currently a third year undergraduate student studying Economics and Biology at UC Berkeley. My interests include music and sports, and I aspire to become a pediatric physician!

As a tutor, I incorporate different learning approaches to find the style that fits you best. I know that understanding concepts is one thing, but being able to teach it is another! My goal is to help you succeed in your studies, and also build confidence for the future.

As a student, I understand how difficult it can be to struggle with a subject. I was once in your shoes, and I know how demoralizing it can become. When I was in middle school, I had a college student for a tutor, and they were really influential in shaping the student that I am today. When I work with students, I see myself in their shoes, and I do everything I can to help them succeed.

As your tutor, I promise to devote my time and efforts to help you become a better student!

I have a passion for working with children, and in the past, I have tutored fellow peers, and worked as a lifeguard, sports coach and ski instructor. This past year, I also volunteered in an elementary school classroom and taught science lessons. My academic experience include all levels of math up to high-level calculus, microeconomics, and science classes such as physics and chemistry. I’m also very familiar with SAT mathematics.

The first step is to meet and discuss our goals for each session. As your tutor, I want to know what you want to work on, what your strengths and weaknesses are, and your best learning style! If you don't know exactly, thats completely okay–I'll incorporate multiple styles and we can find out together. 
I think the most important aspect of tutoring is communication. As your tutor, all I ask for is honesty, respect, and effort, and I promise to uphold those values on my end as well.
