About Lucja
I am a dual-enrolled high school student, currently in my third year of high school and second year of university at FAU. I have taken my fair share of math courses (Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Precalc & Trig, Calculus 1, 2, and 3, and am currently taking Differential Equations). I currently work at the Math Learning Center at FAU, where I teach university students Calculus 1. I also have experience tutoring in Algebra 1 and 2, as well as Geometry.
I got started when I was first hired at the Math Learning Center at FAU as a learning assitant, helping students learn calculus. I have also tutored students, outside of work, at my school for volunteer hours.
I currently work as a learning assistant at the Math Learning Center at Florida Atlantic University where I teach college students calculus. I have completed a semester-long pedagogy course which has taught me how to facilitate effective learning.

First, I take some time to get to know the student. I find that students who know a bit more about their tutor will feel more comfortable during tutoring and are more likely to get effective results from it. Then, I ask the student to describe their current situation and goals moving forwards, eventually getting into specifics of what they need help with.
I have worked with kids starting at age 11 all the way up to adults learning calculus. I believe that having a tutor of a similar age makes it easier for students to connect to their tutor, allowing them to feel more at ease and open to learning.
