About Rucha
Hello! I am Rucha Kadam, a sophomore at Tufts University, on the pre-med track. I am currently studying Cognitive and Brain Science, an interdisciplinary major involving psychology, neuroscience, linguistics, philosophy, computer science, and biology. I am minoring in Child Studies and Human Development with the Eliot-Pearson Children’s School which studies the effects of parenting, media, technology, education, clinical-medical care, and public policy in the development of children.
I have tutored one-on-one as well as in small groups, and am experienced in tutoring various age groups in a multitude of subjects. I was a STEM peer tutor for two years at my high school and was awarded the ‘Student of the Quarter’ award for my work. I have interned at my districts Department of Technology for 3 years, during which I have taught Google Summer Camp courses for teachers and parents. I also worked with the JPL Space Academy (NASA) as a mentor, teaching students how to apply conceptual engineering and physics to build a rocket and launcher. Additionally, I have volunteered my tutoring services to nearby elementary and middle schools for 2-3 years, and served as the Chairman of the program for one year.
I cater each of my tutoring sessions to each student’s individual learning style. I work with each student to identify their strengths and weaknesses. I realize that some subjects may not come naturally to everyone - yet every subject or skill can be taught! I work to improve each student's understanding to the highest possible degree, which is reflected in their test scores and grades. I am flexible with tutoring times, and am willing to work online via Zoom as well.
I fully recognize the importance of communication between student, parent, and teacher, and I welcome any of my potential and current clients to contact me at any time. I am more than happy to give weekly updates or progress reports to parents.
In my free time, I enjoy running or playing soccer, reading, and baking. Some of the interesting things I have done include working with a team of 6 students to develop an customizable announcement system app that was implemented across my school district. I was given a high commendation by the education board of directors of Los Angeles for my contributions toward the development and creation of the app. I also created Hackademia, Southern California's first high school hackathon - a 16-hour coding competition, with the help of sponsors including NASA, JPL, Wix, HackClub, Hack+ and ESRI.
