About Catalina
I graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering and am currently employed as an Engineer at a printing company. I have been in an engineering role for over 13 years. I am passionate about teaching and helping others understand and practice mathematics at different levels. I am an expert in Lean Six Sigma and hold a green belt certification with a black belt training. I have been teaching Lean manufacturing classes for over 10 years. I am a mother of 2 boys in elementary school. I am looking forward to helping your child reach his potential and become confident in his mathematics concepts.
I started helping my sons with their homework and tests and helping friends’ kids with their homework. Some parents struggle with the math level their kids are faced with and I am able to help bridge that gap.
I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from Cleveland State University. I have been an engineer for over 13 years where I have trained and conducted classes around Lean and Six Sigma concepts.

I start with introductions, give some information about my background (school, work experience), ask what areas they would like to improve on and what areas they are strong and confident in. This will help me focus on and create a plan specific for the child.
So far I have worked with elementary and middle school students.
I would suggest making sure they check the tutor’s background and experience.
I recently helped my friend’s 7th grade son with his homework. He did a stellar job and complimented him on his focus and his ability to perform the tasks on his own correctly. He texted me an hour later to thank me and let me know how grateful he was for my help. He started off with a cranky attitude and by the end of his homework he was a smiling, confident boy.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The students should make a list of concepts they grasp easily and are confident in. They should then create a list of areas they struggle with or brings anxiety. That should help the teacher create a good plan that will focus on the needs of the student.
