About Matthew
My education has been shaped by unique experiences and an excitement for learning. Of course, some topics will be more difficult for some students than others, but I would argue that the work you put into a class is equal to the reward you get back out. I have studied a wide range of topics during my academic career, so my tutoring services undoubtedly provide an interdisciplinary perspective that can help conceptualize difficult material in a more well-rounded and accessible way.
My experience with tutoring is both rewarding for me, and the student. I enjoy interacting with others and presenting information and course content in new ways that often helps the student build connections beyond the classroom. I believe that education is essential in setting a solid foundation for future success. Learning can be challenging, but I believe that it is possible to be successful in any subject!
I am currently a fourth-year undergraduate student at UNC Chapel Hill pursuing a double major in Neuroscience and Slavic Language & Literature. I have developed strong critical thinking and knowledge for content in courses such as Biology, Neuroscience, Psychology, Math, and Physics. My language major has prepared me extensively to tutor students in Russian and Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian, and has heloed me develop strong writing skills. Ultimately, I am confident that I could work well with students in a variety of subjects.

When working with a new student, it is essential to estbalish an understanding of where they currently are in the course. Having them self-identify areas that need improvement will help shape my approach to their tutoring sessions. I prefer to jump straight into material and address additional areas of difficulty as we progress in the subject.
